She Almost Didn’t Come: Then Our Temple to Throttle Journey Through Kyoto & Tokyo Changed Everything

Wellness, wonder, and a whole lot of good energy…Japan delivered everything and more on this luxury journey designed for women who are done waiting for permission to rest.

Even after packing, unpacking and packing again, Japan kept calling, and Pink Girls Run The World answered.  Japan is one of 2026’s most‑searched destinations; and with wellness‑through‑community trending worldwide, it’s easy to see the draw. What I love most is how this place moves at a pace that lets you reconnect with yourself.  That morning before you leave, when you caught yourself thinking about a million reasons why this trip should wait until next year, you still get up and go anyway.  And now, you’re so thankful you didn’t let that moment stop you.

First up was Tokyo…and Tokyo did not disappoint. The ladies strapped into go-karts and raced through the streets near Shibuya Crossing, helmets on, laughter loud, absolutely unapologetic. That evening, we gathered for a private dinner with a glittering view of Tokyo Tower, toasting to sisterhood, to courage, and to showing up for ourselves in ways the world told us to wait for.

Then came Kyoto.  Settling into a traditional machiya, a centuries-old wooden townhouse tucked along a quiet lane.

This was “hushpitality” at its finest: private, intimate, and deeply restorative.

No lobby. No crowd. Just tatami mats, a stone garden courtyard, and the sound of rain on clay roof tiles.  In that moment the noise you've been carrying for months just stops; stillness felt radical.

2026 trend: wellness through community travel (Explore Worldwide)

These moments matter so much to me when I travel, because I never realize how tired I am until I finally land. Travel isn’t a prize for pushing through. It’s the reminder of who we are when we’re not in motion. A geisha and sumo cultural performance gave us front-row access to traditions.  Our group sipped matcha and shaped their own bowls during a hands-on tea ceremony…the kind of immersive, "museums without glass" experience that the savviest travelers are seeking out. Every moment felt curated, never rushed.

The real story wasn't the itinerary. It was the in-between moments…on tatami floors, over shared meals, in a garden at dusk.

Women who the travel industry has historically overlooked confirming that rest isn’t a luxury. It’s a right. This is what Pink Girls Run The World was built for: crafting experiences that are luxurious and layered, joyful and intentional for women who have always deserved a seat at the table, and are now claiming the whole damn room.  Every experience was curated for safety, cultural depth, and pure joy;  with zero logistics left to our travelers.

Every time one of our travel buddies sees a Japanese lantern now, she remembers who she was in that garden. That's why we travel, not to escape our lives, but to recognize different parts of ourselves inside them.

Japan, arigato. Pink Girls, we are just getting started.
