Still watching from the sidelines while your knees hurt? Or ready to ride into your next chapter? I took the most relaxing coastal ride with Palm Beach Ebike Rentals—and in honor of National Small Business Month, I’m sharing the details. Because luxury isn’t just about where you stay—it’s how you feel while moving through the world. For women 40+, it’s more than biking—it’s about reclaiming joy, movement and wellness. No pressure to keep up—just a promise to keep going.
Whether you’re 29 or 59, solo, rolling deep for a girls’ getaway or with your family, Scottie from Palm Beach Ebike shares how she and her sister curate rides that meet you exactly where you are. One ride, many stories—but always the same wind in our hair. Let’s go.
PGRW: How Did Palm Beach Ebike Rentals Get Started?
Scottie: The business was my sister Robin’s idea! What started with 40 e-bikes has grown into a popular experience. Up north, it’s mostly mountain bikes, but in Palm Beach, we focus on cruisers—perfect for solo or multi-generational rides with child seats, carriers, and custom routes.
PGRW: What Challenges Did You Face Opening Your Women-Owned Small Business?
Scottie: Absolutely. Launching our e-bike business in the South came with its own learning curve. Coming from Manhattan’s corporate recruitment industry, I’m more aligned to new ideas getting a shot—down here, it’s all about connections and word-of-mouth. We’ve had to build trust from the ground up while working to familiarize people who are still unsure about e-bikes—but we’re changing that, one ride (and one smile) at a time.
PGRW: Why Are Some People Afraid of Riding E-Bikes?
Scottie: The idea of motorized bikes can feel intimidating—until you ride one. They think, what if it’s too fast? But once you get on an e-bike, you never want to go back to a regular bike—especially after experiencing how helpful the e-bike can be. E-bikes are built for comfort and control, especially for those who might struggle with hills or long distances.
PGRW: Can You Share What Riders Love Most?
Scottie: We call it “the glow”—that big smile riders have after saying it was the best day ever or their favorite Palm Beach experience. Whether they’re following a curated route to hidden beaches or exploring solo, they often rave about how fun and unique the ride is.
PGRW: Why Is Biking the Perfect Activity for All Ages?
Scottie: Our goal is to help everyone feel supported and empowered to move at their own pace. E-bikes bring generations together, and we personalize routes to match your vibe—serene beach views, local boutiques, or cool local spots. It’s all about making the ride fun, inclusive, and unforgettable.
PGRW: What are 3 Fun Things You Love to do in the Palm Beach Area?
Scottie: There’s so much to love here, but these are my top three:
Exploring by Bike: Biking opens up endless possibilities—it’s my favorite way to discover new spots.
Water Adventures: Growing up by the water, I’ve always loved kayaking and just soaking in the stunning, turquoise water views. The Bahamas, it’s one of my favorite places in the world, but Palm Beach County is a very close second when it comes to the color of our water.
Hidden Food Gems: We also have a great food scene. One of my favorite pastimes is biking over to a local sandwich shop to grab a sub and walk it over to a hidden courtyard or the beach to enjoy a little picnic.
PGRW: What Advice Would You Give Women Starting a Business?
Scottie: Just start. Don’t wait for it to be perfect. Get the business name, start doing things to push your business forward and things will evolve. You’re going to make mistakes, and that’s okay—it’s all part of the process. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, because every mistake is a chance to learn. You have to take risks in order to see rewards.
